UFC Fight Night: Daniel Cormier Likes Anthony Smith’s Post-Fight Altercation With Ryan Spann
Former two-division champion Daniel Cormier didn’t mind seeing Anthony Smith continue his feud with Ryan Spann, even after he had submitted ‘Superman’ via rear-naked choke in the maiden round. Instead, ‘DC’ labeled Smtih as an ‘O.G’. However, things really got intense at the UFC Fight Night main-event and the security had to dive in to curb any sort of violence.
That said, Smtih v Spann had been an intense affair since its official announcement. Spann had unveiled verbal slurs on ‘Lion Heart’ in the build-up to the fight. In response, Smtih didn’t hesitate to counter. All of it went inside the cage, which eventually got turned into a lopsided contest.
Anthony Smith took no time in outlining his opponent and, with a sheer ground game, he choked out Spann quite effortlessly. However, it wasn’t over for Anthony Smith. He continued to abuse his opponent, and Spann also encountered him. But ‘Superman’ had nothing much to offer as he was hit by a massive ‘Kyprtonite’.
Although a portion of the audience can criticize the act by Amith, ‘DC’ is in all praise for the former light heavyweight title contender. Turning to Twitter, Cormier wrote, “I have no problem with the way Anthony Smith just acted when you talk all that shit and you get beat the way Ryan Spann just got beat we don’t need to shake hands and hug Anthony is an OG and do not play. Really was an easy night for ‘Anthony Smith’ great job.”
Meanwhile, one netizen recalled DC’s losses against Jon Jones in response to Cormier’s appraisal of Anthony Smith’s behavior. But ‘DC’ managed to silence the troll quite sensibly.
Daniel Cormier knows how to end a fight
Akin to Smith vs Spann, Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones was also a fight that was filled with mutual animosity from both sides. That said Jon Jones could overpower Cormier twice. But the rematch was turned into an NC after Jones was tested positive with banned substances. While we are years over that rivalry, Cormier and Jones might share the same feeling to this date.
In his response to a troll, Cormier claimed it’s unnecessary to become “fake friends” after a scrap. Hence, he doesn’t intend to change anything he has for Jones. Thus, Smith vs Spann could have possibly brought back several memories for ‘DC’.
