Barack Obama, Donald Trump: What Are the Former US Presidents Doing in Boxing Commentary Panel?
Boxing has seen quite a few entertaining transitions in the past few years. Today, celebrity boxing, crossover events, and YouTubers calling out pro fighters are not new to the fans. That said, streaming platform Triller had evoked many of those transitions with their maiden event ‘Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr.’ in 2020.
From there, it has been a successful ride for them and now former US presidents like Barack Obama and Donald Trump are reportedly joining hands. Hence, it might be another new phase for the sport of boxing. It is already known that Donald Trump will be commentating on the upcoming Evander Holyfield vs Vitor Belfort event on September 12 (IST).
Donald Trump has expressed himself to be a combat fan all his life. Starting from his WWE appearances to being a live attendant at UFC nights, the former US president is close to many A-listed fighters. That said, he will disseminate that love for combat once again by sitting on the commentary panel of the Holyfield vs Belfort event, along with his son.
If that’s not all, Triller is also planning to bring in Barack Obama. Combat reporter Mike Coppinger took to social media and revealed the news. Per him, Triller chief Ryan Kavanaugh is in advance talks with the Obama Foundation to bring the former US president for Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr. event.
The unified lightweight title fight will seemingly go down this year as Lopez Jr. appears to have recovered from Covid-19. So, Obama’s presence can be another massive factor to bring in a lot of eyeballs. But nothing is official as of now.

Boxing and its new fangs
These new features in boxing events will surely be new to several fans. Traditional fans have bashed the idea frequently. However, several modern-age fans have favored them. Therefore, Triller continues to be the “new wave” in the sport of boxing.
Apart from Trump Jr. in the commentary panel, Brazilian singer Anitta will also appear at the event. The Brazilian singer will perform live, which is another new trend that Triller has introduced in recent times. Thus, the blend of entertainment and combat will now have political elites on full force.
