
Akshata Khadtare of Team Relentless bags a Silver Medal for India at Fifth JU-JITSU ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP, Abu Dhabi
Akshata Khadtare of Team Relentless MMA (Mumbai) bagged the first medal for India at the Fifth Ju-Jitsu Asian Championship. She won a Silver in the Adults Female Jiu-Jitsu (-52 Kgs) division.
Akshata Khadtare trains out of and represents Team Relentless, Mumbai. Team Relentless is headed by Coach Jitendra Khare and is one of the oldest fight teams in the country. She has two more upcoming categories to compete in at the championship – Adults Contact Jiu-Jitsu and Adult’s Jiu-Jitsu Fighting. She is hopeful of medals in both these categories.
Akshata Khadtare – Journey to Silver Medal
Akshata defeated AIGERIM KUATKYZY of Kazakhstan in the Round 1, and moved to Semi Finals of the category. In the semi finals, she defeated ASHWAQ ALKHOORI of UAE and secured a position in the finals.
In the finals, Akshata locked horns with MOLDIR MEKENBAYEVA of Kazakhstan. The bout was closely contested and either of the two couldn’t score any points in the stipulated time. Moldir was declared as the winner by referee’s discretion, though the mat referee had voted for Akshata. Akshata thus settled for the silver.

She will be competing in two more categories, and is hopeful of a win again. If she wins, she will (probably) be the first Indian to win multiple medals at the JU-JITSU ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. he event can be watched live on Ju-Jitsu International Federation‘s Youtube channel.
Akshata is a talent in the making and made India proud by winning 1 gold and 1 silver last month at the GAMMA Asian MMA Championship 2021 held at Kyrgyzstan.
